Golf tournament to benefit Dove House

PORT LUDLOW — A golf tournament to benefit Dove House in Port Townsend is planned in September.

The inaugural golf benefit to support victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse will take place Saturday, Sept. 29, with a noon shotgun start at the Port Ludlow Golf Club, 751 Highland Drive.

The entry fee for the general public is $80. It is $40 for Port Ludlow Golf Club members.

Registration forms must be received by Sept. 15.

For a registration form, visit www.plmga.org/golfingdove.htm.

The tournament is hosted by the Olympic Peninsula Boeing Bluebills, a group of retirees and their spouses who donate time and skills to community projects, and the proceeds will go to Dove House in Port Townsend.

Included in the entry fee are green fees and carts, range balls, a buffet lunch, contests, raffles and one drink ticket.

The tournament will end with an awards ceremony.

A number of local businesses throughout Jefferson County are sponsoring this event to make it communitywide, said Barbara Berthiaume of the Boeing Bluebills.

“We hope to expand this next year and include Clallam and Kitsap County sexual assault and domestic violence programs,” she said.

There is also a $10,000 hole-in-one prize offered.

Major sponsors are CenturyLink, Homer Smith Insurance of Port Townsend and Sequim, Paul Ried Financial Services of Bellevue and Olympic Ridge Construction of Poulsbo.

Dove House provides crisis intervention, emergency food and shelter, medical advocacy, legal advocacy, individual support and counseling support groups, and therapy for child and adult victims, and maintains a 24-hour crisis line.

For more information about the tournament, phone Michael Graham at 360-316-1126 or Matt Prichard at 360-437-0272.
