Gov. Jay Inslee will visit the Makah, Hoh and Quileute tribal reservations Friday on the West End.
Inslee will fly into Sekiu Airport Friday morning and then travel to meet separately with tribal leaders throughout the day, Inslee spokeswoman Jaime Smith said today.
Late Friday afternoon, Inslee will meet with Makah Tribal Council members at the Makah Cultural and Research Center, then will attend the first Drexler Doherty All-Native Memorial Basketball Tournament at the tribal gym, where Inslee will play basketball for a short time, Smith said.
Accompanying Inslee will be Craig Bill, head of the Governor’s Office of Indian Affairs, and Maia Bellon, director of the state Department of Ecology, who will also meet with Makah leaders.
Smith said Inslee wants to meet in person with leaders of the state’s 29 federally recognized Native American tribes.
