FORKS — Electrical power was restored to about 1,122 Forks customers of the Clallam County Public Utility District within a half-hour Thursday morning after PUD crews replaced a piece of equipment at a Forks substation.
PUD spokesman Michael Howe said Thursday that crews were performing routine maintenance on the substation when they noticed a faulty piece of equipment.
That led to the unannounced outage.
“We found an issue we had to fix, so we did,” Howe said. “We had to take the power down to do it safely.”
Howe said power was out from 7:30 a.m. to 7:59 a.m. Thursday.
“Better to have this happen with the inspection than have something go wrong when we weren’t already there,” Howe said.
