PORT TOWNSEND — A 40-year-old Port Townsend man was arrested Monday, less than a half-hour after a brazen midmorning robbery at a downtown bank a block from the man’s apartment.
Bryant Kirk Nance was being held in Jefferson County jail without bond, awaiting his initial appearance in Jefferson County Superior Court.
Port Townsend police received a 10:15 a.m. alarm call from Kitsap Bank’s Mount Banker Building Branch at 215 Taylor St. and then confirmed it as a robbery in progress, said Sgt. Ed Green.
City police, Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies, Washington State Patrol troopers and the FBI also responded.
Believe to be unarmed, Green said, the bandit walked into the bank with a blue nylon carrying case and demanded money.
