Head-on collision near Sequim causes minor injuries

SEQUIM — Two Port Townsend men suffered minor injuries Thursday when the pickups they were driving collided head-on at the intersection of U.S. Highway 101 and Louella Road east of Sequim, the State Patrol said.

Dwight W. Honaker, 65, was traveling westbound on the highway in a 1994 Toyota pickup when he failed to stop for traffic, swerved to the left over the centerline and struck a 2017 Toyota Tacoma driven by William L. Bennett, 78, in the eastbound lane, according to a State Patrol news release.

Honaker and Bennett each had minor injuries, troopers said.

They were not transported by ambulance.

Both men were wearing seat belts, and neither drugs nor alcohol was involved, according to the release.

Traffic was reduced to one lane on U.S. Highway 101 at 11:07 a.m., the state Department of Transportation said. The collision was cleared by 12:01 p.m.

Both vehicles were destroyed in the crash and were towed away, the State Patrol said.

The State Patrol said charges are pending.
