SEQUIM – An innovative housing arrangement, a lodge with a spa, 232 homes and 25 vacation-rental cabins are among the concepts Wayne Enterprises is considering for its land in southeastern Sequim.
These ideas, “are the basis for a conversation with the city,” said Louis Torres, the representative for Wayne Enterprises, the Newport Beach, Calif., company managed by actor John Wayne’s surviving family members.Â
The development – in the earliest of planning stages – could include 22 “clustered homes,” 1,000- to 1,200-square-foot houses built around a common open space, said Torres, a consultant with Olympic Development Planning in Port Angeles.
Sequim’s planning staff has scheduled a meeting on the Wayne Enterprises concepts for March 7, Torres said Monday.
The clustered housing is among a wide range of possibilities for what could be a 140-acre development off West Sequim Bay Road near John Wayne Marina.
The famed movie actor, who died in 1979, frequented Sequim Bay waters aboard his yacht – the Wild Goose – and purchased acreage along its western shores.
