OUR COUNTY FAIR Photo Contest brought folks out in droves — to enter the contest with their pictures from the Jefferson County and Clallam County fairs, and to vote on the photos.
We’ve never seen a combination of so many entries and votes in any of our previous photo contests.
The competition in the fair contest was stiff — all 45 photos were great — and our online voters picked these as the winners:
■ First place: “Lilli Donisi Clallam County Fair 2014 Yee Haw!!!” Little Lilli rode the same pony five times during her day at the fair.
As if she already knew she were a winner, Lilli’s hand is raised in triumph.
Congratulations to Lilli and the Donisi family, including photographer Andrea Donisi of Port Angeles.
They will receive a $25 gift certificate to Airport Garden Nursery sponsored by First Federal.
■ Second place: “Eye,” taken by Rebecca Wilkinson of Sequim when she and her two children — ages 6 and 8 — visited the 4-H barns.
Rebecca’s photo of a horse’s eye peering through the slats of a barn door was striking.
Hopefully more beautiful photos are in her future. She won a gift certificate from Fine Art Photography by Ernst.
■ Third place takes the cake — literally!
Sarah Beeson’s photo of her son, Cody, won her a $25 gift certificate to That Takes The Cake in her hometown of Sequim.
Cody was enamored by the Doggy Costume Show, which is why Sarah called the photo “Cowboy Giggles.”
Hopefully, Sarah will be able to catch another snapshot of that great smile when he gets to pick out his sweet prize.
