SEKIU — The Friends of Hoko River State Park are seeking volunteers for trail and garden work.
The group has potatoes in the ground for the September Potato Dig/Seed Swap, said Nancy Messmer, secretary, and is hosting tours of the Cowan Ranch Heritage Area Farm site from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays in July, August and September.
Tours follow all recommended health guidelines, she said.
In addition to the gardens, renewed pioneer orchard, demonstration garden plots, and Little Hoko River Trail, the Friends group also has new attractions such as kiwi trees, hugelmounds and quinoa.
The Cowen site is on the Hoko/Ozette Road just off state Highway 112, a mile or so west of Sekiu.
