Hernandez selected interim Jefferson County sheriff

PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County Undersheriff Tony Hernandez was named interim sheriff by county commissioners today, and he was immediately given the oath of office.

Hernandez, who is expected to run for the sheriff’s position in November on the Democratic ticket, was the commissioners’ pick after interviews with him and two other candidates.

He replaces the retiring Mike Brasfield, whose final day is Friday.
