FORKS — Quillayute Valley School District planned to release students early today in anticipation of high winds on the West End.
Forks High School sports and school activities after 3 p.m. were canceled, according to the Forks Forum newspaper. Sports practices were scheduled for earlier in the day.
Quileute Tribal School in La Push was operating on a normal schedule, Superintendent Mark Jacobson said.
Cape Flattery School District canceled an away basketball trip but its schools were operating on normal hours, officials said.
School districts in Joyce, Port Angeles, Sequim and Port Townsend also were on normal schedules.
The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for coastal areas including La Push, Neah Bay, Forks and Westport from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. today.
Another high wind warning will be in effect for Admiralty Inlet, San Juan County and western Whatcom and Skagit counties from 4 p.m. today through 1 a.m. Tuesday.
