Highway 101: California woman injured in rollover west of Forks; log truck flips onto its side

FORKS — A California woman was transported to a local hospital late Friday night after being involved in a single-vehicle rollover on U.S. Highway 101 about 1 mile west of Forks.

Also Friday, a portion of Highway 101 about 23 miles south of Forks was disrupted for more than eight hours after a log truck flipped over onto its side. No injuries were reported.

At about 10:51 p.m., Adrianna Scott, 20, of Forks was driving a silver 2002 Nissan Quest minivan westbound on the highway in heavy hail, according to State Patrol.

At milepost 1, the vehicle entered the curve too fast, left the roadway and rolled twice.

The van was totaled and towed from the scene by West End Motors.

There were three passengers in the van at the time: Gray S. Struznik, 33, of Forks; Dax S. Messett, 43, of Grants Pass, Ore.; and Leslie L. Ajari Kazue, 28, of Tahoe City, Calif.

Scott, Struznik and Messett were uninjured.

Ajari Kazue was transported via ambulance to Forks Community Hospital. She was no longer there as of Saturday morning, according to hospital staff.

Scott will be cited for driving too fast for conditions.

Log truck

In another incident earlier that day at about 7:17 a.m., Marcus D. Ellis, 18, of Port Angeles was driving a black 1974 Peterbilt log truck southbound on Highway 101 at milepost 167 when he failed to negotiate a curve to the left, according to the State Patrol.

The log truck left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch on its right side.

The incident caused traffic delays until 3:40 p.m. Friday, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Ellis will be cited for driving the vehicle off the roadway.
