PORT TOWNSEND — One wreck led to another on state Highway 20 on Monday afternoon.
No one was hurt, according to Bill Beezley, East Jefferson Fire-Rescue spokesman, who did not identify any of the parties, citing federal restrictions to protect privacy.
The wrecks at milepost 4.8 on Highway 20 near Port Townsend blocked one lane of traffic from 1:51 p.m. to 2:25 p.m., the state Department of Transportation said.
The first wreck occurred when the right front tire blew on a white Toyota Corolla sedan traveling east on Highway 20.
The car swerved into a ditch, Beezley said, and the driver, a 56-year-old Port Townsend man, pulled it back out before returning to the ditch a little farther down the road.
There, the car became wedged on its side and the driver crawled out a window, Beezley said.
A westbound Dodge Caravan slowed upon seeing the wreck, but a silver Subaru Outlook didn’t slow as quickly, Beezley said.
The Subaru driven by a 78-year-old was damaged when it struck the rear of the van, Beezley said.
