PORT TOWNSEND — Two people were transported to Jefferson Healthcare hospital with minor injuries early Sunday after a two-car wreck near milepost 8 of state Highway 20.
East Jefferson Fire-Rescue responded to the crash at 6:52 a.m. after a mail carrier changing direction turned into a driveway and then backed out onto the highway into the path of a northbound Suzuki SUV, according to a press release.
The SUV veered to avoid the mail carrier’s Focus but clipped the front end before leaving the highway on the east side, traveling down an embankment, and hitting and splitting a utility pole. Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue provided mutual aid and transported one patient to the hospital.
The State Patrol is investigating the cause of the wreck.
