SEQUIM — Deputy Chief Mike Hill recently graduated from 286th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.
Hill is only the second officer from the Sequim Police Department to complete the 10-week course, according to a department press release.
Hill joined the Sequim Police Department as a reserve officer in 1998. He was hired full-time in 2001.
Since then he has served as a field training officer, a K-9 officer, firearms instructor, defensive tactics instructor, patrol officer, patrol sergeant and detective sergeant prior to being promoted to deputy chief in 2021.
The academy focuses on advanced communication, leadership and fitness training; most graduates return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.
The academy’s 286th session trained 238 officers from departments in 47 states, the District of Columbia and 25 countries.
