PORT ANGELES — International homage was paid earlier this month to veterans killed in the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Retired Lt. Col John Bishop, president of the Canadian War Veterans Association, and Gerald Rettela, president of the Korean War Veterans Association on the Olympic Peninsula, paid homage last week to Clallam County veterans killed in those wars.
A rose designated for each veteran was placed at the base of the combined memorial at Veterans Park in Port Angeles.
Bishop currently presides over all of the Canadian Korean War Veterans units, a group consisting of several thousand veterans throughout Canada.
Rettela again has been asked to carry the United States flag in the Queen Victoria Parade on May 23 in Victoria, along with a motorized and marching United of the Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry and veterans of the Olympic Peninsula’s Korean War Veterans Association.
