Crews begin shifting lanes across the Hood Canal Bridge today to make room for widening the floating span’s north half starting in early April.
The travel lanes will remain a standard 12-foot width this summer, but both directions will be shifted two feet to the south, leaving just a 1-foot distance from the railing barriers, the state Department of Transportation said.
Special permission is required for loads on the bridge 11 feet and wider. Oversize load crossings are allowed only at certain times. For more information on permits, call Transportation at 360-874-3050.
