Hood Canal: Diesel spill closes state Highway 104

SHINE — Authorities closed state Highway 104 late Wednesday night after a drum of diesel fuel spilled on the road.

According to the Washington State Patrol, both lanes of the highway were closed shortly after 9:30 p.m. at milepost 6, near Sandy Shore Road.

Troopers were at the scene investigating the incident by 10 p.m. and state Department of Ecology and Department of Transportation officials were enroute.

Specific details of the incident were unavailable late Wednesday.

As of 10:30 p.m., troopers were still looking for the vehicle believed to have been carrying the drum, initial State Patrol reports said.
