PORT TOWNSEND — The name will now. Easier to say and remember, too.
Jefferson County Public Care Service District No. 2 rolled out its new name, Jefferson Healthcare, on Monday.
The name change applies to Jefferson General Hospital and to a variety of outpatient businesses connected with the hospital.
The new name more accurately reflects the fact that 75 percent of the services offered under the Jefferson Healthcare umbrella are outpatient services, said Kathy Constantine, the organization’s spokeswoman.
Jefferson Healthcare, a comprehensive health care organization, includes a network of physicians’ clinics, physical therapy and rehabilitation, home health care, hospice and numerous other health-related services all coordinated through the healthcare district.
“It reflects the more encompassing role of the hospital,” said wellness nurse Wendy Schultz. “It’s a way to reflect our new mindset. With the previous name you think of the hospital, you don’t think of the clinics. The name is key.”
The administration considered a variety of possible choices for a name change. It analyzed feedback from patients and employees over a period of months.
