PORT TOWNSEND – With a new look and environmentally friendly materials, port officials have set their sights on reopening Hudson Point Marina to the public on June 15.
It will be a soft opening, said Port of Port Townsend Executive Director Larry Crockett, and is likely to be followed by a formal ribbon-cutting and celebration the first or second week of July.
While a few boaters were expected to slip into the marina over the Memorial Day weekend, Crockett said, “We’re still technically closed.”
With dock power lines installed, workers are now finishing up the marina’s new fire-flow pipeline system under the docks.
The dry lines will allow firefighters to charge them from a marina hydrant, then couple up fire hoses to outlets as needed along the docks, Crockett explained.
The lines are kept dry, except for firefighting, because they are exposed to winter freezes without insulation during winter months.
Port Townsend Boat Haven marina has a similar dry-line system.
