Impeachment rallies planned today in Sequim, Port Townsend

Gatherings planned in support of House proceedings

Rallies will be held today in Sequim and Port Townsend in support of the U.S. House impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump.

The Sequim rally, organized by Indivisible Sequim, members of MoveOn.org and Clallam County Concerned Citizens, is set for 3 p.m., according to organizers.

The event, titled Nobody is Above the Law, will take place at the intersection of Sequim Avenue and Washington Street in downtown Sequim.

Participants are advised to dress in warm clothing and bring a sign. Extra signs are available for early arrivals.

The rally in Port Townsend will be at 1 p.m. at the triangle at the intersection of Kearney Street and East Sims Way, according to organizers.

According to MoveOn.org, 141 people have signed up for the Port Townsend rally as of Monday afternoon, and 218 people have signed up for the Sequim gathering.

To RSVP for either event, visit www.moveon.org.

All events organized through Indivisible and MoveOn groups are intended to be peaceful, inclusive and family friendly, according to organizers. The local rallies are part of 500 similar events across the country, organizers said.

Trump faces two articles of impeachment by House Democrats: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

The House will vote Wednesday on the impeachment articles approved last week by the House Judiciary panel, according to the Associated Press.
