NEAH BAY– The Coast Guard rescued an injured hiker south of Cape Flattery on Sunday afternoon, airlifting the injured woman to Olympic Medical Center.
Megha James, 25, was hiking near Neah Bay, just south of Cape Flattery when she was injured and could not continue, the Coast Guard said.
James was hiking with a group and one of her companions hiked back to Neah Bay to find help, the Coast Guard said.
The Coast Guard was called to help at about 11:45 a.m. Sunday.
Coast Guard Station Neah Bay and other emergency workers set out on land to help but could not reach her because of the terrain.
Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles sent an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter at about 12:40 p.m., which reached the hiker by about 1:15 p.m., the Coast Guard said.
The nature of her injuries was not available on Sunday.
She was still under evaluation at the hospital, so her condition was unavailable on Sunday evening.
