PORT ANGELES — A Clallam County jail inmate made a break for it after being treated at Olympic Medical Center this week.
Peter Norman Childs, 37, of Sequim was charged March 27 with possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance (cocaine). He was being held on $25,000 bail.
Childs is still at large. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest on Monday, the day he vanished.
Details of the medical treatment have not been made public, but on April 7 Clallam County Superior Court Judge Ken Williams signed an order allowing Childs to leave the jail to go to the hospital for surgery, court documents say.
He was supposed to return to the jail on April 9 or 10.
Instead, he split.
