SEQUIM — City Manager Steve Burkett has hired Christopher Hugo, a veteran planner in Spokane and Bremerton, as interim planning director.
Hugo worked for the city of Spokane for more than 20 years as a planner, senior planner and program manager.
He spent six years working for the city of Bremerton as the community development director and most recently has worked as a consultant through his own company, SoundPlans LLC, where he has consulted on a variety of issues.
Those issues include planning services to study alternatives for a new town center for the city of Fife, assisting the Suquamish tribe on matters related to growth management and assisting the city of Bellingham on updates to their zoning code.
Hugo has been hired on a contract basis. He began work today.
Joe Irvin, city of Sequim interim planning director, has resigned from his position, effective April 15.
He will be moving to south Florida with his family where his wife, Katie, will pursue a graduate degree in occupational therapy.
