SEQUIM — Interim city Planning Director Chris Hugo has been handed the job permanently by City Manager Steve Burkett, Burkett announced today.
In a written statement, Burkett said his selection of Hugo was based on Hugo’s passion for helping communities find good futures and his experience in working as a planning manager and director for city, county, regional, and state governments in communities of 200 to 200,000 residents.
Hugo’s resume includes land use-related positions in Spokane, his hometown, and Bremerton as well as operating his own consulting business.
“Chris was one of four excellent candidates we interviewed last week. While all of the candidates had excellent planning knowledge and experience in Washington cities, Chris was the best match for the challenges and opportunities we face in planning for Sequim’s future,” Burkett said.
Hugo had been interim planning director since March 28.
