CLALLAM BAY — An investigation into a series of threatening phone calls to Clallam Bay Corrections Center continued Thursday, says an investigator with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Department.
From about 9 a.m. until noon Wednesday, a man called the prison’s main phone line about five times, indicating there was a bomb in the facility, prison spokeswoman LeAnne Fletcher said.
The prison went on lockdown and the Washington State Patrol, FBI and Department of Homeland Security were notified.
The facility was declared bomb-free about 4:30 p.m., Fletcher said.
Staff whose shifts ended before the all-clear time remained in the prison until approval was given to leave. Union employees were paid for the extra time, Fletcher said.
“We haven’t received any more calls so far today,” she said Thursday afternoon.
