FORKS – A Clallam County sheriff’s investigator says arson can’t be ruled out as the cause of last Friday’s fire at the Department of Health and Social Services.
Moreover, Forks police say they are checking a report that someone claimed to have set the blaze.
“We’re still looking into that,” Police Chief Mike Powell said Thursday.
“We had someone say they’d heard the person claim to have set the fire.
“However, just because someone said they did it doesn’t mean they did.”
Meanwhile, Sheriff’s Deputy Todd Yarnes said that, although initial inspection hadn’t indicated arson, “at this point the cause is undetermined.
“It’s going to take a lot more investigation to determine the cause.”
Arson was determined to be the cause of a Nov. 11 fire at the Quillayute State Airport control tower about 10 miles from Forks.
