A good soaker of a storm system is heading our way, and even communities in the rain shadow of the Olympics are apparently not to be spared Tuesday.
Rain will begin moving in late tonight, and by Tuesday, much of the Olympic Peninsula and Puget Sound region will be looking at steady rain, according to the National Weather Service and AccuWeather (please tap on the weather in the upper right corner to get the forecast for your community).
It will rain the hardest in the mountains, with up to two inches possible — not the best time to go hiking or camping.
The winds will pick up a little as well as the storm passes through, with southerly winds to 20-25 mph in gusts. By November, that will be considered a “light breeze” but in August, it’s certainly noticeable.
Showers will continue through much of Wednesday, but it’s expected to dry out and warm up into the 60s and 70s — just in time for the three-day Labor Day weekend.
