PORT ANGELES — Peninsula Plywood’s lease with the Port of Port Angeles became official on Monday, and the company will begin hiring employees in the coming weeks, said Josh Renshaw, president of the company.
PenPly must hire 60 people in the next 90 days, according to the lease agreement.
“This is a bright day for Peninsula Plywood, for the Port of Port Angeles and for our community,” port Executive Director Jeff Robb said.
KPly, the mill that formerly operated at the site, closed in November 2007 and officially laid off 130 employees in April 2008.
Since that time Renshaw has worked with a group of unnamed investors to reopen the mill under its original name.
The company is now accepting applications for several managerial jobs, Renshaw said.
“That will be an excellent basis to move forward to our full staff,” he said.
