PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles won by 488 votes over the Colorado resort town of Glenwood Springs and advanced to the fourth of five rounds in Outside magazine’s fifth annual Best Town Ever online contest.
When voting closed at 8:59 p.m. Monday, the count was 14,284 for Port Angeles, or 50.87 percent, to 13,796, or 49.13 percent, for Glenwood Springs.
Port Angeles now faces Flagstaff, Ariz., in the national contest.
Flagstaff beat Pagosa Springs, Colo., to advance to the fourth round.
The competition
Online voting is now underway between Port Angeles and Flagstaff and runs until 8:59 p.m. Saturday, May 23.

Each of the five rounds of voting lasts five days.
The contest leads to a final showdown between two towns. The contest began May 4, and the winner will be announced June 5.

Port Angeles previously beat Santa Barbara, Calif., in the first round and the Kitsap County city of Bainbridge Island in the second round.
Results of the first round narrowed the original field of 64 towns to 32.
The second round went to 16, and the third round cut the list to 8 — four pairs of towns in the West, East, Midwest and South
The voting for Port Angeles has been promoted heavily by members of Revitalize Port Angeles, a Facebook group.
