PORT ANGELES — A new 25-minute film about Olympic National Park is now showing at the park’s visitor center, 3002 Mount Angeles Road.
The film, “Mosaic of Diversity,” is close-captioned for the hearing impaired and is available for viewing on request whenever the visitor center is open.
The center currently operates from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
The film provides an introduction to the natural and cultural history of the park, and features stunning footage, from the glacier peaks of Mount Olympus to rain forest valleys, said park spokeswoman Barb Maynes.
Also shown: underwater views of salmon swimming upstream to spawn.
Aerial footage
Aerial footage of the park, along with close-up looks at wildlife and underwater views of American dippers and gray whales, are also noteworthy.
“We’re proud of our new orientation film and warmly invite our neighbors and visitors to enjoy it,” said Olympic National Park Superintendent Bill Laitner.
“It presents an unparalleled view of the beauty, complexity and diversity of Olympic National Park.”
“Mosaic of Diversity” was produced by the National Park Service Harpers Ferry Center.
The center produces audio-visual programs along with exhibits, signs and publications.
Actor Graham Greene, known for his roles in “The Education of Little Tree” and “Dances with Wolves,” narrates “Mosaic of Diversity.”
