PORT TOWNSEND — Former aerospace consultant Bill Miller of Port Townsend has confirmed that he will run for Port of Port Townsend commissioner.
Miller joins former Jefferson County Commissioner Richard Wojt in seeking the position. Formal candidate filing is next week.
Both Miller and Wojt talked briefly Tuesday at a Jefferson County Democratic Party meeting, where party members were urged to support either man in the nonpartisan race.
Incumbent Commissioner Bob Sokol hasn’t announced whether he’ll seek a third term. Sokol said he will make a decision Friday.
If Sokol runs, bringing the number of candidates to three, the office will be placed on a primary ballot for residents of Port Townsend.
The top two candidates from the primary would face off in the countywide November general election.
