Jefferson: Brasfield wins sheriff’s race

Mike Brasfield is the new Jefferson County sheriff.

He topped Kristen Anderson-Post by 345 votes out of 12,535 cast in the race after election officials tallied late-arriving mail-in ballots Friday.

Other Jefferson County candidates solidified their Election Night victories.

The Fire District No. 1 (Chimacum) levy failed.

“It looks like it’s going to be a done deal,” said Brasfield, who stopped at the Jefferson County Auditor’s Office on Friday to check the vote.

Only about 100 more mail-in ballots are expected, and they will be counted Wednesday.
