PORT TOWNSEND — Brinnon Sub-Area Plan proponents protested Monday outside the Jefferson County Courthouse, urging county commissioners to push ahead with the plan to spur development in the economically depressed Brinnon area.
Commissioners were told by about two dozen plan supporters to “take leadership” and forge ahead with the plan to rezone 75 acres for development, including a golf resort at Black Point.
“We’ve had plenty of opportunity for public comment,” said Linda Tudor, who served as chairwoman of the Brinnon Sub-Area Planning Group during the two year planning process. “We want to pull ourselves out of the economic depression we’ve been in.”
The sub-area plan would rezone 75 acres into six different designations.
Much of the acreage would be restored to allow for uses previously restricted in the county comprehensive plan.
Most of the land would be zoned to allow the large golf course to be built.
