PORT TOWNSEND – The project to rehabilitate the Jefferson County Courthouse clock tower came in about $500,000 under budget, county staff reported.
“It’s excellent news,” said Allen Sartin, director of Jefferson County Central Services.
“I think we did a good job. The taxpayers got a good return on their money on this one.”
The money not being spent will be returned to the county construction fund for future projects, he said.
In addition to being in charge of the financial planning for the project, Sartin is also organizing a public ceremony in mid-June to celebrate the conclusion of the renovations.
