PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County Historical Society has hired William Tennent as its new director.
Tennent succeeds Niki Clark, who resigned in May to continue her historical research work elsewhere.
Tennent was the top choice among 26 applicants and the only one of nine finalists invited to Port Townsend for an interview, search committee member Nancy Stelow said Tuesday.
“He’s a curator and an author,” Stelow said. “He’s got both the technical and the people skills.”
For the past three years, Tennent has been director of the Davenport House in Savannah, Ga., during which time it underwent restoration.
