PORT TOWNSEND — County and public utility officials agreed Tuesday to work together to develop a proposal to take over water and sewer services on Indian Island.
The U.S. Navy currently operates the island’s sewer system, including a treatment plant that serves about 45 people living at Naval Magazine Indian Island.
The Navy wants to privatize water, sewer and electrical services to the depot as it does at many other bases across the country.
