Jefferson County vs. Clallam County — How we voted (and differed) on president, governor, same-sex, et.al.!

WE SHARE THE North Olympic Peninsula, but, boy, do we differ when it comes to politics!

Clallam County went for Mitt Romney (though by a 47-vote margin). Jefferson went strongly for President Obama.

Republican Rob McKenna was the victor in Clallam. Democrat Jay Inslee was the man in Jefferson.

We agree on legalizing marijuana, Maria Cantwell and Derek Kilmer . . . but not on same-sex marriage.

Clallam likes charter schools . . . but Jefferson doesn’t.

And the Republican challengers to the Peninsula’s three state Democratic state legislators seemed to do a bit better in Clallam than they did in Jefferson.

Here’s how Clallam and Jefferson counties voted on the key races in the state election, based on the ballot count Tuesday night (the next vote counts in both counties will be Friday):
