Jefferson: Eight incumbents file to retain office

Eight new contenders — all incumbents — filed to run for elected office Wednesday, the third day of filing for Jefferson County positions on the ballot this fall.

The incumbents included five school board members, two fire district commissioners and a hospital district commissioner.

With Wednesday’s filings, there are 36 people vying for 51 positions on the Nov. 6 ballot.

In three days of filing, candidates have not filed for 18 positions.
