JEFFERSON: Elderly man swims chilly waters to shore after boat flips

PORT TOWNSEND — An elderly Arlington man who spent 90 minutes in the frigid water of Hood Canal was released from Jefferson General Hospital.

Erland Elefson, 72, was transported to the hospital Tuesday for treatment of possible hypothermia.

Elefson was fishing Tuesday from a 7-foot skiff near Seal Rock Beach when his boat overturned about 11:30 a.m. approximately 100 feet offshore.
