PORT TOWNSEND — One of two Jefferson County races that were too close to call after the initial tally on Tuesday was decided in the second count today (Friday) while another remains unresolved.
In the Jefferson Healthcare commission Position 2 race, incumbent Marc Mauney was unseated by challenger Matt Ready, who accumulated 5,301 votes (51.76 percent) to 4,899 votes (47.84 percent).
Jefferson County Auditor Donna Eldridge said the outcome will not change in the tally of the remaining votes. Approximately 644 votes are still left to be counted.
Unresolved is the Position 5 race for Port Townsend City Council. As of Friday, Pamela Adams led Harold Sherwood by seven votes, 1,849 to 1,842, or 49.89 percent to 48.7 percent.
Another count is expected to take place on Nov. 15, Eldridge said.
