CHIMACUM — Mandatory liability insurance for Port of Port Townsend marina tenants is a rule that is going to stay, Port commissioners declared Wednesday night.
The reaffirmation of the rule set earlier this month came during a Port commissioners meeting at the Tri-Area Community Center in Chimacum.
Earlier this month, the commissioners voted unanimously to require marina tenants to carry $300,000 worth of insurance by July 1.
On Wednesday, Bill Dunaway, a potential Port Townsend Boat Haven tenant, said he was having trouble finding insurance for his antique boat.
He told commissioners he is leading a project to restore a World War II-era Navy captain’s gig. It is the only operational vessel of the type remaining, he believes.
