OLYMPIA — Jefferson County Democratic Party chairwoman Nancy Biery of Port Townsend has been named director of external affairs by Washington Gov. Gary Locke.
“Nancy has been a longtime contributor in this state’s political process,” Locke said.
“Her relationship with both legislative leaders and key stakeholders will be a valuable asset to our team.”
High-ranking officials in the Jefferson County Democratic Party were meeting Monday night to determine if Biery would remain the group’s chairwoman.
Biery has been on leave of absence from the Jefferson position to work in the presidential campaign of former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean in Iowa.
