PORT TOWNSEND — City Council members and Jefferson County commissioners are working to resolve their differences over county plans to double industrial-zoned land at Glen Cove.
The two governments are planning to hire an independent mediator to help them resolve differences over county plans to rezone 60 acres at the business complex just outside city limits.
The county is planning to rezone the land from rural residential to light industrial to boost development in the area.
The City Council voted unanimously Monday to pursue mediation and an agreement with the county on Glen Cove expansion.
But on a 4-3 split, council members appointed Freida Fenn, Kees Kolff and Michelle Sandoval to meet with commissioners to discuss rezoning issues.
Councilmen Joe Finnie, Geoff Masci, and Al Youse opposed the appointments.
