A Jefferson County YMCA could be off and running as soon as next month.
Board President Scott Walker said Tuesday that an agreement could be in place by May 1 to rent office space on the lower level of the Uptown Community Center in Port Townsend.
The group will officially become a branch of the Clallam County Family YMCA at the start of the month if agreements with the Port Townsend and Port Townsend School District are secured.
“We’re getting closer and closer, I feel real optimistic about that,” said Port Townsend Recreation Director Bill Kush, who will leave the city to become the YMCA’s recreation director.
