PORT HADLOCK — Right now, it’s a dry grass field dotted with a rundown barn, some shacks and old fenceposts.
Fast forward to a few years from now, and the former McAndrews Tri-Area Dairy may be a booming educational site — with a return to its agricultural past.
That’s the goal of the Sunfield Education Association, headed by Helen Curry.
The idea, she says, came to her in part from watching her children grow up in the area.
She came to realize that the farm experience is foreign to many of today’s youth who live their lives away from rural areas.
“We’re very excited about the possible revival of our agricultural culture,” Curry told the Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce during her keynote speech at a luncheon meeting Monday.
