The second half of the 2011 property taxes are due Monday and must be either paid in person or postmarked by that date.
Property owners in Washington state have the option to pay the complete property tax all at once on or before April 30 or pay half the amount and the remainder on or before Oct. 31.
In Jefferson County, taxes may be paid in person from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays at the courthouse or mailed to the treasurer, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend, WA 98368.
There are five drop boxes located in front of the courthouse, at Bank of America in Port Townsend, at Bank of America in Port Hadlock, at Columbia Bank in Port Ludlow and at U.S. Bank in Quilcene.
Electronic checks may now be used to make payments for a service fee of $3 at www.co.jefferson.wa.us/treasurer.
Credit card payments may be made online at www.co.jefferson.wa.us/treasurer/billpay.asp or by phone at 877-812-8072.
A 2.5 percent fee is charged by the service provider for credit card transactions while debit cards are charged $3.95.
These fees apply whether the payment is made online or in person at the courthouse.
Canceled checks are proof of payment.
Taxpayers who need a written receipt need to make their payments in person at the respective courthouse or include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
