A 24-year-old Port Townsend man was pronounced dead at the scene of a rollover accident on state Highway 20 near Highway 19 in Jefferson County shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday.
Eric Leif Oie died when his 1983 Subaru station wagon, eastbound on Highway 20, clipped a 1992 Dodge Caravan, hit the guardrail, crossed the road, clipped the end of a guardrail, left the road and rolled onto its top, the Washington State Patrol said Sunday.
The Caravan was driven by Richard Lance Cubley of Port Townsend.
None of five passengers in the mini-van was seriously injured.
The State Patrol said Oie had tried to pass Cubley’s vehicle in a no-passing zone. He was not wearing a seat belt.
