PORT TOWNSEND — Nearly 35 percent of registered voters in Jefferson County have cast ballots in the primary election, said Betty Johnson, county voter registration coordinator.
Of the 21,284 ballots issued, 7,423 — or 34.9 percent — had been returned as of the close of courthouse business Thursday.
Another 106 ballots have been returned by the post office as undeliverable.
Voters have until 8 p.m. Tuesday to have their ballots postmarked or placed into a ballot box inside or outside the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St.
Voters who have not received ballots should call county Auditor Donna Eldridge’s office, 360-385-9119, to update their address information and receive a ballot.
Replacement ballots can be issued up to Election Day.
In Clallam County, more than 27 percent of registered voters had returned ballots by Thursday.
Of the 44,119 ballots mailed to voters, 12,134 — 27.50 percent — had been returned.
