PORT TOWNSEND — An upgraded Jefferson County Courthouse elevator won’t open its doors to passengers for another week because of a malfunctioning circuit board.
The $238,000 project was expected to be completed last week. But on Friday, signs were still up telling potential riders that the elevator was closed.
County Central Services Director Allen Sartin said contractors with ThyssenKrupp Elevator were in the final testing phases when the main circuit board, which controls the elevator, failed.
“Basically, the board self-destructed,” Sartin said.
