DISCOVERY BAY — An 88-year-old Seattle man has died of injuries he received when his 1991 Mercedes rear-ended another car on U.S. Highway 101 near Orcas Road, according to the State Patrol.
Norman R. Cole of Seattle died late Saturday in Harborview Hospital in Seattle, where he was airlifted after the collision.
The patrol said Cole was wearing a seat belt and that alcohol was not involved in the incident.

According to the patrol, Cole’s car struck a 2004 Toyota Matrix driven by Amy L. Stevenson, 33, of Seattle, who had stopped for traffic.
She was uninjured, but her three passengers were taken to Jefferson Healthcare hospital complaining of sore backs.
All were treated and released.
Each was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
Damage to Cole’s car was estimated at $2,000, and Stevenson’s Toyota received minimal damage, according to the patrol.
